Music and Mission Trip 2009

A slideshow of the trip is now available on the Media page!

Jennifer and her family recently went on on a music and mission trip to the United Kingdom and Kenya. The trip began with a week in the UK where Jennifer toured in support of Young Life. Jennifer was on staff with Young Life in New York for several years, her father brought Young Life to Columbus, Ohio over 30 years ago, and it's always exciting to see how God works in young people's lives through that organization. You can read more about Young Life in the UK here.

Next, the Shaws visited Kenya for three weeks, travelling to the Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, and staying there with long-time missionaries Wally and Donna Coots. The Rift Valley Academy, a branch of Africa Inland Mission International, is a Christian boarding school providing a K-12 education to children of missionaries serving thoughout Africa. Jennifer provided a concert ministry for the youth at the school, performed at churches in Nairobi and Mombasa, and the family participated in the Coots' work with AIDS orphans and the Maasai tribe. The following video provides a snapshot of the Rift Valley Academy itself.

Jennifer is also a World Vision artist and the family was given the opportunity to meet one of the World Vision children in Kenya who they have been sponsoring for years. For more information about World Vision and the awesome work it is doing in children's lives around the world, please visit World Vision's web site.

Be Part of the Mission!

The Shaws needed to raise $10,000 in order to cover travel expenses (including airfare, car rentals, passports/visas and so on), although most of their costs in the UK and Kenya were handled by their hosts. Thanks to many of you the goal was met and as of April 30th (the day before their departure) the fund raising total sat at $10,078!
Thank you!
