Well, I think I have a second to breathe. What a crazy week here.

Last weekend I went up to Jamestown, New York, to Mission Meadows retreat center to do the women’s retreat for the Great Lakes region of the Evangelical Covenant Church. This also happens to be the retreat for my home church, so that was really fun. Usually I don’t know anyone, but I knew about a quarter of the people there! Even the program director, Britt, is an old friend – it was so good to see her!

I gave a concert on Friday, led the worship all weekend, and taught the book of Esther. We had a great time. To make it even more fun for me, my mom came with me which she often does, but my oldest daughter also came which was a first. It was so special to have her there, and the three of us had a blast together!

Unfortunately I was just getting over an illness when I went and it was cold and pretty rainy the entire weekend. I started losing my voice on Sunday, and by the time we got home, I really didn’t have one at all. That is very unusual for me – I can’t remember losing my voice since I was 16 years old! I have another retreat this weekend, so I’m staying on vocal rest.

That’s been tough to do, though, since yesterday I was scheduled to shoot a music video for “To Be Love,” the song I wrote for Remember Nhu. R-Nhu is the organization that brought Nathan and I to Thailand to see their work – they fight child trafficking in many countries. I am really pleased with the response to the song and think the video will really help. Looking forward to sharing it with you all in the coming weeks!

Now, I’m going back to drinking tea and laying low. The warehouse where we shot was freezing, and I really need to get my voice back for the coming weekend!

Pre-release concert for Someday

Ryan Wilkins opened for the pre-release concert

Closing with All God's Children

Signing CDs afterward

Last night was the pre-release concert for my new album, Someday. I am so excited about this new music! It was just an amazing evening – we were totally overwhelmed by all the love and support from everyone who came out. Thank you all so much!

My amazing friend, Ryan Wilkins, opened the night for me. He’s a great musician and I’ve known him my whole life. He just released his third album and it was so fun to have him there.

It was great to introduce all the new songs and fun to do a night I know I’ll never do again. We had a ton of neighbors and friends there too, so it felt like a reunion!

Also, another article came out today in The Christian Telegraph announcing the new album. You can check it out here.

Press releases and fun song news!

Friday, September 14th, 2012

We’ve had quite a bit of press lately on the new album – just wanted to get a few of them up here. 🙂

Breathecast did an announcement and article about the new album here.

World Vision also announced it along with some of their other artists new releases here.

And Music News Nashville also broke the news about the new album here.

It’s pretty fun to see where God is taking things! We’ve had a lot of interest from various groups about different songs already and it’s not released officially until October. I’ll be doing a pre-release concert this weekend – if you’re in the Columbus area, come on out!

Song sampler from the new album, Someday!!

Saturday, September 1st, 2012

Well, I can’t quite believe it, but the album may actually be done and off to manufacturing! It is always so much more work than I ever think it should be to get all the packaging done and all the final mixing and mastering and licenses and artwork and legalities, but yahoo! I think it’s done. 🙂

We had great news this week too when Lifeway Worship officially picked up all the publishing rights to every single song on this album! I was so excited about that, and I’m so looking forward to seeing where God will take these songs! We have several that I really hope will get out into the church as worship songs, and Lifeway can really help us with that.

So with that, here’s a song sampler just to give you a taste – hope you love it! Let us know what you think. We are able to take pre-orders now in our store. The national release is not until October 2nd, but if you pre-order, they should be going out the week of Sept. 17th. All pre-orders will be SIGNED and if you buy two or more, you get the sale price and free shipping, so definitely take advantage of that! I really can’t wait to share these songs with you!
